"I've wanted to build this building for 35 years!" So we were told by the owner on the day we finished raising the frame. His dream, now a reality, was to have a formal space where he and his teacher could practice the martial art of Kendo.
The building is a simple rectangle but really celebrates wood and the nature of structure in a very special way. The arch logs span more than 30 feet to create a huge open space, and they tie the building to where they came from by sharing their natural form. The rectangular floor plan provides the order and symmetrical traits that are important in Kendo.
